Our website, https://www.aozora.me (hereinafter: “the website”) does not set any cookies. This page explains what a cookie is, why we don’t use any, and how we still measure the website’s audience without needing your consent.

2. What are cookies?

A cookie is a small simple file that is sent along with pages of a website and stored by your browser on the hard drive of your computer or another device. The information stored therein may be returned to the website’s servers or to third-party servers during a subsequent visit.

3. No cookies are set on this website

aozora.me is a static website, with no user accounts, no shopping cart and no member area: it therefore does not need any technical or functional cookie to work. We also do not set any audience-measurement, advertising or tracking cookie.

The share buttons on blog articles and product pages (Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Telegram, WhatsApp) are plain links to these social networks: they are not embedded widgets, they don’t load any third-party code, and so they don’t set any cookie unless you actively click one to share a page.

Buying an item from the shop redirects you to a secure payment page hosted by our payment provider, Stripe, which is not embedded on this website (no embedded payment widget). This external page is governed by Stripe’s own privacy policy, available on its website.

4. Audience measurement

We measure website traffic using Umami, a self-hosted analytics tool we run ourselves in France (not a third-party service hosted abroad). Umami:

  • does not set any cookie on your browser;
  • does not collect any identifying personal data (no full IP address is retained, no identifier that would let us recognize you individually or track you across websites);
  • only produces aggregated, anonymous statistics (visit counts, viewed pages, general traffic sources).

This audience-measurement approach meets the French data protection authority’s (CNIL) consent-exemption criteria for analytics tools strictly limited to this purpose - which is why you don’t see a consent banner on this website.

5. Your rights regarding personal data

Although this website does not collect personal data through cookies, you keep your rights over any personal data you might otherwise share with us (for example through the contact form):

  • right of access to your personal data;
  • right to rectification or erasure;
  • right to object to processing;
  • right to data portability.
